Noidans-lès-Vesoul

Noidans -lès- Vesoul is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté. It belongs to the agglomeration Vesoul.

Geography

Noidans -lès- Vesoul is located at an altitude of 220 m above sea level, about 2.5 km west-southwest of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the Basin of Vesoul on the southern edge of the wide valley of Durgeon, at the northern foot of the height of the Bois de la Cote.

The area of ​​8.64 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the pelvic region of Vesoul. The northern boundary runs partly along the Durgeon, the eastern is marked by its left side stream Ruisseau de la Fontaine au Diable. History

Is first mentioned Noidans in 1174 under the name Noydant. From a later time, the spellings Noydant sub Vesulio ( 1229 ), Noidant ( 1312), Noydan ( 1387 ), Noydam ( 1404) and Noidan ( 1429) have survived. The origin of the name is obscure. Attractions

The single village church of Noidans -lès- Vesoul was built from 1767 to 1770 on the site of a chapel. In the transept paneling are in the Louis XVI style, in the polygonal choir of the Baroque main altar. There are also numerous paintings from the 18th century and a richly carved pulpit.
