Pusey, Haute-Saône

Pusey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté. It belongs to the agglomeration Vesoul.

Geography

Pusey is at an altitude of 231 m above sea level, about 5 km north- west of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the Basin of Vesoul, north of the broad valley of Durgeon.

The area of ​​8.18 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the pelvic region of Vesoul. The southern border is the middle of the alluvial plain of the Durgeon, which provides for drainage west to the Saône. The plane is on average 215 m and has a width of around four kilometers on. From the valley floor, the municipality's area extends northward to the adjacent plateau, which is divided by the valley of the Ruisseau de la Vaugine. With 266 meters, the highest elevation of Pusey is achieved in the northwest. In geological- tectonic terms, the terrain consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments of the lower Jurassic period.

Neighboring communities of Pusey are Charmoille and Pusy- et- Épenoux in the north, Vesoul in the east, Vaivre -et- Montoille in the south and Grattery in the West.

History

In the Middle Ages Pusey was part of the Franche-Comté and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had initially served as the Vicomte de Vesoul, later the Lords of Faucogney. In the course of Pusey went into the possession of the reign Port-sur -Saône and was placed under the Bauffremont 1570-1770. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In the 18th and 19th centuries the place for its horse breeding was known. Today Pusey is a member of the comprehensive 19 villages municipal association Communauté de communes de l' agglomà de Vesoul.

Attractions

The village church of Pusey was rebuilt in 1688. From medieval predecessor from the 11th century are only a few remains still visible. It has a painting of Gustave Courtois, a wooden crucifix (18th century ) and a high altar of porphyry. The village is characterized by various houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, which show the characteristic style of the Haute -Saône.

Population

With 1541 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Pusey is one of the medium-sized towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1896 507 persons were still counted ), a strong population growth has been recorded since the early 1970s again.
