Norma Redpath

Norma Redpath ( born November 20, 1928 in Melbourne, Australia, † January 12, 2013 ibid ) is an Australian sculptor and graphic artist.

Life and work

Norma Redpath studied from 1942 to 1948 graph at Swinburne Technical College, where she was ill for some time, and from 1949 to 1951 sculpture at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Your last training they took in self-study, as a study of modern sculpture was not offered in Australia. During the 1950s, she traveled to Europe and studied in Italy from 1956 to 1958 at the Università per Stranieri in Perugia, and lived in Rome, where they do not let go of the Italian art. In 1958 she returned to Australia and worked in 1962 at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, and she commuted regularly from Australia to Italy. From 1974 to 1985 she worked alternately in her Milanese and Australian studio.

She was a member of the Victorian Sculptor Society and produced bronze sculptures. In 1953 she met Inge King, Julius Kane and Clifford load, the members of the Group of Four were, and in 1961 she joined the group of artists Five Centre in Victoria in which, inter alia, Inge King, Julius Kane, Clifford Last, Lenton Parr, Vincas Jomantas and Teisutis Zikaras were members, organized the exhibitions of sculpture.

She has received numerous awards including the Mildura Prize for Sculpture in 1964 and in the same year the Transfield Prize for Sculpture. In the years 1972 to 1974 she was awarded the Fellowship in the Creative Arts from the Australian National University in Canberra.
