After the end of World War II Zikaras was two years for sculptor education at a trade school in Freiburg im Breisgau, before emigrating to Australia; there, he arrived in Melbourne in 1949. Centre Five group

In 1961, there were meetings of which was one of the founding member Zikaras Centre Group of Five sculptors Julius Kane and organized. The Centre Group 5 gave himself a five-point plan, which was presented during their meetings. Included Clifford Last, Inge King, Norma Redpath, Vincas Jomantas, Teisutis Zikaras, Julius Kane and Lenton Parr This group of Victorian Sculptors Society. One of the five elements of the plan was that the contact of the sculptor widened to the public and the understanding of art should be extended. Another concern of this group was that group exhibitions of sculpture should take place. As they left the Victorian Sculptors Society, their joint exhibitions were regarded as competing events and this led to a deep division of the local sculptor community. The first such group exhibitions were held in 1963, 1964 and 1965. Even in the years 1974 and 1984 works of these sculptors were presented as an exhibition of the Centre Five group.
