North Key Largo is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Florida with 1,244 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

The CDP North Key Largo is also the easternmost island in the Florida Keys belongs and is bordered on the southwest by Key Largo.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 1,244 inhabitants distributed to 1,657 households. The population density was 25.6 inh. / Km ². 95.9 % of the population were white, 2.1% African American, 0.0% Native American and 1.2% Asian Americans. 0.6 % were members of other ethnic groups and 0.2 % of various ethnicities. 5.5% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 72.2 % of all households lived in 6.1% of all households with persons at least 65 years. 68.0 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.88 persons and the average family size is 2.18 people.

5.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.9% were 20-39 years old, 17.7% were 40-59 years old and 59.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 65 years. 47.3 % of the population were male and 52.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 127,639, while 12.3 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100 % of the population.

Traffic

On the one hand there are connections to the mainland via the Card Sound Bridge ( County Road 905A ). At the border to Key Largo County Road 905 meets on the Overseas Highway (U.S. 1/SR 5), is reached via the Key West (165 km) and Miami (via the Jewfish Creek Bridge, 80 km away).
