Stock Iceland is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Monroe County in the U.S. state of Florida with 3,919 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

The CDP Stock Iceland is located on the same island Stock Iceland, which belongs to the Florida Keys. It lies on the Overseas Highway (U.S. 1, SR 5) and is adjacent to Key West. Miami is about 240 km away.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 3,919 inhabitants distributed to 1,644 households. The population density was 1687.8 inh. / Km ². 79.1 % of the population were white, 17.1% African American, 0.3% Native American and 0.3 % Asian Americans. 1.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.9% in different ethnic groups. 49.7 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 21.8 % of all households lived in 35.7 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 64.6 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.72 persons and the average family size is 3.18 people.

24.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.3% were 20-39 years old, 30.2% were 40-59 years old and 15.8 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 37 years. 52.9 % of the population were male and 47.1 % female.

The average annual income was $ 39,151, while 10.6 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 58.45 % of the population spoke Spanish 40.58 % and 0.97 % spoke French.
