Nová Pec

Nová Pec ( German Neuofen ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 25 kilometers south of Prachatice near the border with Austria in the Bohemian Forest and belongs to Okres Prachatice.

Geography

Nová Pec is located on the right side of the Vltava River on Jezerní Potok ( Seebach ) just before its confluence with the Lipno lake. West of the village runs Schvarzenberk, behind it rises on the border of the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany the Plöckenstein ( 1,378 m), with the lying in its cirque hollow Plešné. To the northeast lies the 1049m high Perník ( Lebzeltenberg ). In the east, the railway from Český Krumlov passes by Stožec, to which the station Nová Pec is located in Nové Chalupy.

Neighboring towns are Záhvozdí in the north, Želnava in the northeast, Bela and Nové Chalupy in the east, Láz in the south, Dlouhy boron in the east and Jelení in the Northeast.

History

The area in the Bohemian Forest belonged since the Middle Ages to the possession of the castle on Witigonen Wittigstein and was covered with dense forests. According to oral tradition, the first building to have stood in Neuofen since 1577. In the mid-17th century the village was founded by Neuofen Johann Christian von Eggenberg. First records of the then existing was only two courtyards place 1653rd As 1717 Eggenberger became extinct in the male line, Neuofen fell to the Schwarzenberg. In Teresian cadastre of 1757 Neuofen is already reported with 27 houses.

Nová Pec is now in the National Park and Protected Landscape Area Šumava and is characterized by a very diverse nature.
