Nynäshamn Municipality

Nynäshamn is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish Stockholm County and the historic province of Södermanland. The main town of the municipality is Nynäshamn.

Geography

The area in which the municipality is located, is also Southern Södertörn called because it lies at the southern end of the Södertörn peninsula. On the peninsula located in the northern and the southern part of metropolitan Stockholm. Before the coasts there are thousands of small islands that form the archipelago of Nynäshamn.

History

Today's congregation was formed in 1974 by merging the former municipalities Nynäshamn, Sorunda and Ösmo.

Economy

From Nynäshamn a ferry to Visby on Gotland, which are especially important for tourism, but also the ferries to Poland, mainly to transport freight and trucks.
