History

The first mention of the village dates from the year 1536. 1630 was a Johan Henße from Oberrarbach who could complain about the execution of his father after a witch trial, mentioned. Oberrarbach belonged to the local government reform to the community Rarbach. On January 1, 1975, the village became a district of the new town of Schmallenberg.
