Geography

Geographical Location

The Samtgemeinde Oderwald located with its districts east and west of the Oder Forest, which is its namesake. The Oker flows from the south of the resin coming through the area of the velvet municipality.

Neighboring communities

At the Municipality or forest borders the west, the county-level city of Salzgitter, in the north of the town of Wolfenbüttel, in the northeast of the Municipality of aces, in the southeast, the administrative community Osterwieck Fallstein ( district of Harz, Saxony- Anhalt) and to the south the Samtgemeinde Schladen.

Up to 1 November was also the community Achim member town of Samtgemeinde Oderwald, when it was amalgamated with Börßum.

Economy and infrastructure

Are interesting for tourists, the German tourist route Alpine Baltic Sea and the German Framework Road, both of which run through the Municipality.

Traffic

About this area of the velvet municipality carries out the Federal highway 395 from Braunschweig to Bad Harzburg. In the field of small Flöthe a junction was established in the late 1990s, since the dismantling of the federal highway 4 from the direction of Wolfenbüttel the traffic should be routed over the highway. In the south of the velvet municipality crosses the highway 82 Goslar- Konigslutter, the south-west of the velvet municipality in Schladen has two connection points to the aforementioned highway.

The railway Brunswick- Bad Harzburg offers Börßum in a train station.

Education

The integrated municipality has two primary schools, one in Cramme for communities Cramme and Flöthe, and one in Börßum for the other five municipalities of the velvet municipality.
