Offenbach-Bieber–Dietzenbach railway

The railway line Offenbach- Bieber - Dietz Bach branches in Offenbach- Bieber Bahnhof from the Rodgaubahn and via Heusenstamm up to Dietzenbach. The circuit is integrated into the Frankfurt S- Bahn network. Here, on line S2.

History

The route Offenbach- Bieber - Dietz Bach connects to the Rodgaubahn opened in 1896 and was opened on 1 December 1898. It is the result of a since about 1870 sustained, long lasting effort at the local level to develop the area south of Offenbach by a railroad, but which was taken up only slowly by the Grand Duchy of Hesse. So it took until 1888 to finally existed the approval of the Government and a further ten years until the first train passed.

The trains were initially in the steam operation, after the Second World War increasingly with diesel locomotives. The meaning of the compound was in the growing commuter traffic from the Offenbach district to jobs in the leather goods industry, the county seat.

As of 18 June 1982, passenger services were set on the track.

Operation

In the late 1950s, the establishment of a commuter train operating on the route was brought into the conversation. However, it should still last until 23 March 2001 to the reconstruction of the route to Dietzenbach started a two-track, electrified line within the Frankfurt S- Bahn network. An extension of the distance to the central railway station Rödermark - Ober Roden over Mark Roeder - Urberach failed due to lack of economic viability. The last kilometer between the Dietzenbach Mitte station and the breakpoint Dietz Bahnhof was performed only single track. The last stop is in close proximity to the Spessart district (formerly " Starkenburgring "), a nationally known social focal point. According to relevant incidents the ceramic insulators there were provided at the upper poles of the path with bulletproof metal plates to the high-rise estate back.

The timetable change 2003/2004 on 14 December 2003, the S-Bahn operating the route part of the S -Bahn line S2 (low Hausen- Dietz Bach) and so in the network operated by DB Regio AG network of S- Bahn Rhein was added, Main integrated. After the conversion to S-Bahn remained only one railway siding in Dietzenbach- Steinberg, the uses a fruit wholesaler.
