Olivér Halassy

Olivér Halassy [ olive ː r hɒlɒʃi ] ( born July 31, 1909 in Budapest, † September 10, 1946 in Budapest) was a Hungarian swimmer and water polo player.

He was hampered by a tram accident in his childhood, were separated at the foot and lower leg while swimming. Nevertheless, he won the silver and at the games in 1932 in Los Angeles, as well as in Berlin in 1936 the gold medal at the 1928 Olympics in water polo. He was also 1931 European champion in swimming above 1,500 meters.

Halassy 1946 was stopped at a taxi ride from Soviet soldiers and shot along with the driver.

In 1978, he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
