The Estadio Omnilife is a multi-purpose stadium in Zapopan, a suburb north-west of Guadalajara, in the Mexican state of Jalisco. The stadium should be named after the first local football club Chivas Guadalajara and bear the name Estadio Chivas. A month before the official opening was announced that the stadium would be named as a sponsor of the proposed Spanish telecommunication company Movistar. A week before the opening was then named as the new name Omnilife; by the company of the owner Jorge Vergara stadium, who is also president of the football club Chivas Guadalajara.

The playing surface
