Only You (1994 film)

Just for you ( Original title: Only You ) is a love story directed by Norman Jewison from 1994 starring Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. in the lead roles.

Action

When the 9 -year-old Faith Corvatch from Pittsburgh with her brother Larry plays on a Ouija board and reads of this subparagraph to form the name Damon Bradley, she is convinced that this is where that person is their soul mate, their " second must act in half, " the fate has intended for them. When she is 11 years old, her name is again called by a fortune teller at a carnival. 14 years later, Faith is a teacher and has just engaged to Dwayne, a doctor. 10 days before their planned wedding, she gets a call from a school friend of her fiancé, who is currently at the airport. He introduces himself as Damon Bradley and was on his way to Venice.

Faith, that was just during the fitting of her wedding dress, storms without changing for the airport, but just missed the flight from Bradley. She calls her sister Kate, who should you pack a few things and their passport and bring to the airport because she wants to take the next plane to Venice to fly behind him. Kate decides to accompany her - she is married to Faith's brother Larry and long gone happy with this.

In Venice arrived, Bradley is already left and they follow him to Rome. Kate learns there Giovanni know the businessman and lives with him from a romance. Faith in Rome learns to know a man who pretends to be Damon Bradley, later turns out that he's a shoe salesman by the name of Peter Wright. He admits to have been posing as Bradley, because he had fallen in love at first sight in Faith and his white lie was the only way to see them again. The day after, she wants to leave Italy, but just as she wants to leave, she holds on to Peter and tells her that he has now found the right Damon Bradley for them. In a hotel in Positano they finally meet on the wanted and Faith agreed with the supposedly real Damon Bradley. Peter watches them suspiciously, and when he is forced to watch in the evening, as he groped Faith, he goes after them. Faith is disappointed and upset about Peter's new lie. The next morning, Faith sends a telegram to the homeland to call off her wedding. Giovanni leaves the hotel with Peter. Shortly after coming to a taxi with Kate's husband Larry, who had tracked them down because of their credit card bills in Italy. Larry tells her that he loves her and does not want to lose.

After Faith also has departed, Larry admits Kate that the name Damon Bradley never had anything to do with fate, but it was all a joke, behind which he stuck: As a child he had influenced the Ouija board so that the indicating the name Damon Bradley and later he paid the fortune teller, so that they again called her name.

Faith and Peter are now arrived for the return journey independently at the airport when suddenly an announcement is made, Bradley is asked for information in Damon. Both rush for information, where they meet and really get to know even a real Damon Bradley. Peter introduces both each other and makes his disappointment on the way to his return. When Damon Faith asks her if she loves Peter, she realizes that she actually loves him and she was just the illusion Damon Bradley chased. She rushes to the machine of Peter, which is already cleared, however, and is nearing departure. Faith makes clear the airport staff that the man she loves sitting in the machine. The aircraft is stopped and the personnel bring Faith the machine. Faith gets in and surprised Peter, who takes her in his arms and kisses.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun - Times on October 7, 1994 that the film was one of the rare at this time, light-hearted romances. He praised the representations of Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr. and the loving images of the Italian locations.
