Oppedette

Oppedette is a commune with 60 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Alpes- de -Haute -Provence, Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur.

Geography

The village is situated at the entrance to the gorge of the Calavon and perched on a rocky outcrop 525 meters in height. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Luberon.

History

The name Oppedette can be traced back through the location of the village, and because of the good ways to defend the concept of the oppidum. Experts argue that it is a diminutive of the name Oppède.
