Volx

Publix is a commune with 3080 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Alpes- de -Haute -Provence, Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. It belongs administratively to the district Forcalquier and Manosque to Canton - North and is also a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté d' agglomà Durance Luberon Verdon.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 50 kilometers north-east of Aix -en- Provence at the termination of the Luberon Mountains in the valley of the Durance. Neighboring municipalities are:

  • Villeneuve in the northeast, east and south,
  • Manosque in the south and southwest,
  • Dauphin in the west and
  • Saint- Maime in the northwest.

Through the village of Canal de Manosque and the Canal de la Brillanne, as well as on the eastern outskirts of the village lead a water channel of the EDF, on the Sainte- Tulle a hydroelectric power plant is operated. The boundaries of the municipality in the southeast by the River Durance, in the north- east by the inflow Largue.

Transport links

The community is accessed via the running in the Durance high-level transport connections. These are the A51 motorway and the parallel road department D4096, D13 of the branches in the district of Publix, which leads to the river Largue following the hinterland. Further runs through the municipality, the railway line from Lyon to Marseille Perrache -Saint- Charles. The train station is, however, closed since 1979. Nearest railway stations as well as motorway and departures are located in Manosque and Oraison.
