Ortenau-S-Bahn
The Ortenau S -Bahn GmbH ( OSB ) is a 100 percent subsidiary of Southwest German transport company ( SWEG ). It operates since 1998, the rail passenger transport on several routes in Ortenaukreis and additional connections to Strasbourg and along the Kinzig Freudenstadt.
In contrast to the S-Bahn lines are not numbered S1, S2, etc., but with a name or with the course book numbers ( KBS ), and also the usual logo (white " S" on a green circle) is not used, because the Ortenau S -Bahn is by its nature a regional train. The attractive term S -Bahn appeared only on the advertising on the company name Ortenau S-Bahn GmbH.
History
Since 24 May 1998, the railcar Ortenau S-Bahn GmbH operate on some routes in Ortenaukreis.
Criticism
Initially, there was criticism of the Ortenau S -Bahn, such as the lack of sound insulation of the motors and the lack of toilets. Furthermore, the faulty arrangement of the exhaust pipes were complaints that were installed directly in front of the suction of the air conditioner. This design flaw has now been cleared.
Future
Currently, there are some plans of Ortenau S- Bahn GmbH. For example, from 2012 to operate three new breakpoints near Offenburg Ortenau S-Bahn. On the Black Forest Railway also a breakpoint at Gutacher outdoor museum Vogtsbauernhof to be built. Furthermore, the intention of the district to a through connection from the Acher ( Achertalbahn, route Ottenhoefen - Achern, KBS 717) to Offenburg.
Rolling stock
The Ortenau S -Bahn GmbH has 24 vehicles. Five of these vehicles have the SNCF approval to operate on the Europa web after Kehl station the breakpoint Krimmeri - Meinau and the Strasbourg train station. The railcar VT 527-532 vehicles of Stadler Rail AG (type: Stadler Regio-Shuttle RS1), of which six vehicles were delivered in June 2005; all others are from the Adtranz company (type: Adtranz Regio - Shuttle RS1 ). Both building types have some differences - so has the newer series about a passenger information system. The depot all Ortenau S-Bahn railcar is the Bahnbetriebswerk Ottenhoefen.

Two Ortenau S-Bahn rail car drove ( in traction with Breisgau- S-Bahn railcar ) during the Easter holidays 2001 to the Breisach train ( line Freiburg in Breisgau- Breisach ) to get together with the old SWEG railcar almost all Breisgau- to represent S-Bahn railcar, since complications of the operation recording emerged.
