Oscar Mathisen Award

In 1959, the Oscar Mathisen Memorial Trophy was, also called ice - Oscar, donated. It is awarded in the form of a statue in memory of the legendary speed skater Oscar Mathisen from Oslo Skoiteklubb.

The winner will be when they are in the evaluation period, World Cups, all other international races on Norwegian soil and at times all countries fighting with Norwegian participation chosen based on the results in international events Olympic Games, World Championships, European Championships.

By 1967, the price could be each assigned only once to an athlete, which is why some outstanding performances had to remain unappreciated. Women were even allowed to be chosen only from 1987. Record winner is Eric Heiden, the 1977-1980 four times won before Ard Schenk ( 1970-1972 ), Johann Olav Koss (1990, 1991, 1994 ) and Gunda Niemann- Stirnemann as the best woman (1995 to 1997).
