Óscar Molina

Óscar Molina Casillas (born 2 January 1990) is a Mexican professional boxer in the Light Middleweight.

Youth and Family

Óscar Molina was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, but emigrated with his family to the United States, where he grew up in California and went to school. His father is former professional boxer Miguel Molina, his twin brother Javier Molina is also a boxer and was Olympic athletes of the United States by 2008. His older brother Carlos Molina ( born 1985 ) is a professional boxer and fought among others in 2012 against Amir Khan a WBC title.

Amateur career

He began at the age of eight years with boxing, fought exclusively in the welterweight division and won 142 of 168 amateur fights. In 2007 he won the Mexican Elite Championships (adults) and launched in March and April at the 2008 American Olympic qualifications in Port of Spain and Guatemala City; However, with three wins and two defeats, he finished only the places 3 and 5, which is why it was denied an Olympic appearance.   • June 2010: 3rd place Pan American Championships in Quito (including victory against Custio Clayton, semi-final defeat by Myke Carvalho )
  • July 2010: 2nd Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez (Final defeat by split decision against Cristian Peguero )
  • October 2011: 2nd Place Pan American Games in Guadalajara (Final defeat against Carlos Banteur )

In May 2012, he started at the American Olympic qualifiers in Rio de Janeiro, where he entered victories against Nathan Ridings from El Salvador, Brian Castano from Argentina and Gabriel Maestre from Venezuela to the final and only then retired against Brazilian Myke Carvalho. By doing reached second place, however, he was automatically qualified for the starting in October Summer Olympic Games in London.
