Geography

Geographical Location

Ostercappeln lies in the nature and Geopark TERRA.vita at the transition from the northern slope of the Wiehengebirge in the southern part of the municipality Ostercappeln to wide moorland in the north of the municipal territory. The Mittelland Canal crosses the northern parts of municipalities Venne and Schwagstorf.

Geology

History

The railway line Osnabrück and Bremen runs through the municipality. The railway station in the municipality part Ostercappeln is no longer in operation, however.

The Mittelland Canal runs from west to east by the municipality.
