The otoyol Highway 31 (short O -31) connects the cities of İzmir and Aydın Turkey. The highway is a total of about 100 kilometers long. The O31 is part of the E87 and was opened in 1998. Numerous viaducts in the field of Aydın Mountains and the Selatin Tunnel - with 3048 m length of the longest highway tunnel in Turkey - make this highway a special structure. The Selatin tunnel (Turkish Selatin tüneli ) is considered one of the safest tunnel in Europe. With 120 million U.S. dollars in construction costs and the latest technology is the tunnel one of the most expensive buildings in the Turkish road construction. Most of the highway is illuminated at night.

The ring motorway from Izmir, O- 30 branches off from this freeway, near the small town Germencik goes from a highway to Bodrum. The highway passes through not very strongly populated area (excluding the metropolitan center of İzmir ). It so happens that there exits - with the exception of urban areas ( İzmir and Aydın ) - are only about every 20 kilometers. For the entire motorway tolls are levied, but no more than about 3 €. Construction of the highway began in 1996, the continuation of Denizli is under construction.
