Pay It in Metal - also published under the name Painkiller - is the third studio album by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus. It contains the single " Susie ".
Background
The album Pay It in Metal and Painkiller, which is available in four different cover artwork, in turn, appeared only a year after its predecessor, To You All. The members of the band remained unchanged and consisted of frontman Chris von Rohr, guitarist Tommy Kiefer and Fernando von Arb and the rhythm section Jürg Naegeli on bass and Freddy Steady on drums. In just six days the whole album was recorded in the Manor Studios in Oxford. Meanwhile, the music took on more and more of the traits of the subsequent albums. It has presented a straightforward, playful little hard rock. More and more also the songwriter duo of Arb / pipe emerged. Tommy Kiefer, responsible recorded in the predecessor still for more than half of the songs, worked only with the title "Deadline" as a songwriter. Not least because of the single " Susie " and the video for "Bye Bye Baby " and "Rock Me, Rock You ", the album was an even bigger success than To You All. The wages were performances in the opening act of Mother's Finest and the Scorpions. Pay It in Metal or Painkiller is the last album with Jürg Naegeli on bass and Chris von Rohr on the mic - the latter was already touring the micro to the new singer Henry frieze, and moved to the bass. For caring Jürg Naegeli from now on to the band's sound. But Fries should not remain faithful long the band: Before the recordings of their successors Metal Rendez -Vous he got out again. In retrospect, a real godsend for Crocus, because for the Maltese frontman Marc Storace was ultimately won by persistent attempts to recruit by Chris von Rohr. Like the debut album Krokus Pay It is not available as a CD in Metal or Painkiller today. According to Chris von Rohr, the album was not - as printed on the recordings - produced by Harry Sprenger, the former manager of the band, but personally von Arb and tube.
