Stampede is the eleventh studio album by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus.

Background

After the departures of long-time members Marc Storace and Fernando von Arb Krokus dissolved and the final end of the band seemed close. Chris von Rohr but initially remained still active and has toured in connection with singer Peter Tanner, lead guitarist Many Maurer, rhythm guitarist Tony Castell and drummer Peter Haas under the name Grand Slam by Germany, Austria and Hungary, partly as support of Bonfire. Grand Slam played mostly solo material of pipe contained on Hammer and Tongue. Then Chris went from pipe and his colleagues, however, separate ways and, ironically, filled Fernando von Arb left by the pipe gap. Following the formation in early 1990 initially completed continue under the name Grand Slam a few concerts before the decision was made to record a new studio album with this lineup. This was ultimately the launch of a completely new, consisting exclusively of Swiss occupation of Crocus, because after a few considerations, it was clear that the new turn in the Pink studios concerns addressed in Zuchwil and finally Stampede, dubbed works just under the banner of the most successful Swiss rock band all time should appear. This already perceived even as a surprise fact should still compete in terms of the line-up with another, in terms of crocus at least remarkable fact: Since, according to Fernando of arbs opinion of the guitarists Mason and Castell well harmonized with each other, and in addition, he himself showed interest, to play the four-string bass in a band, the guitarist took years for the first time but also unique in the band's history full-time bass. The album was finally published in November 1990, remembered musically but especially technically sound again after more than two predecessors Krokus Heart Attack And Change of Address, and also was the hardest since headhunters work of the Swiss. It also includes, for example, with the title track, " Stampede ", with "Rock ' n ' Roll Gypsy " or "Shotgun Boogie", some typical for the band hard rock songs and still not received at least up to 18th place in the Swiss album charts increased album the desired attention. This was due to the fact that it was first published only in Switzerland, also possibly because it was the first after the debut album crocus plant without additional single promotion and not least at the time radical line-up changes - missing with Marc Storace the voice of Crocus, with Mark Kohler is an established guitarist and Chris von Rohr, a bandleader and songwriter. However, personnel changes, the band should continue to support: Once in Fernando von Arb lymphatic cancer was found, the line-up broke apart again and crocus was put on hold. Only after complete recovery of arbs formation was revived in 1994, but this time almost in the cast of One Vice at a Time. Besides von Arb and Many Maurer returnees Marc Storace, Mark Kohler and Freddy Steady completed the band EP You Is not Seen Nothin ' Yet and the album To Rock or Not to Be should follow. Stampede was in 1999 re-released in a double pack with To Rock or Not to Be, which was also officially available internationally for the first time. The re- release includes the resulting line-up Storace, von Arb, Kohler, bricklayers and Steady 1994 Bachman -Turner Overdrive Cover " You Is not Seen Nothin ' Yet".
