Papyrus 106

(Referred to Gregory- Aland Sigel 106) 106 Papyrus is an early copy of the Greek New Testament.

Description

The fragment comes from an ancient garbage dump in Oxyrhynchus Egypt. It rains there almost never, so these fragments have been preserved. It is a papyrus manuscript of the Gospel of John contains only the verses from 1.29 to 35; From 1.40 to 46. Using palaeography, it has been dated to the 3rd century.

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Alexandrian text-type, and thus is 66, 75, Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus close.
