Papyrus 16

(Referred to Gregory- Aland Sigel 16) Papyrus 16 is an early copy of the Greek New Testament. It is a papyrus manuscript of the Philippians contains only the verses from 3.10 to 17; 4.2 to 8. Using palaeography, it has been dated to the late 3rd century.

Grenfell and Hunt suggested that 15 and 16 parts of the same manuscript are. Both manuscripts have the same cast of characters, line spacing and punctuation.

The Greek text of this codex is a representative of the Alexandrian text-type (or rather proto- Alexandrian ). Aland placed it in Category I. The manuscript has big accordance with the Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus.

The manuscript is currently being kept in the Egyptian Museum under the signature JE 47424 in Cairo.
