Papyrus 83

(Referred to Gregory- Aland Sigel 83) Papyrus 83 is an early copy of the Greek New Testament. It is a papyrus manuscript contains parts of Matthew's Gospel. There are only the verses 20,23-25,30-31; Get 23,39-24,1.6 remained. Using palaeography, it has been dated to the 6th century. The manuscript was found in Khirbet Mird in Palestine. The Greek text is probably mixed. Aland placed it in Category III because of his age.

The manuscript is preserved in the library of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven under the signature PAM 16 and PAM Khirbet Mird Khirbet Mird 27 in Leuven. The writing was washed off with water damage, but could be released due to old photos.
