Paraparaumu

Paraparaumu is a town in the southwest of the North Island of New Zealand. It lies on the Kapiti Coast, 50 kilometers north of Wellington.

Like other cities of the region, it has a location right on the coast partner settlement, Paraparaumu Beach, which is located directly opposite Kapiti Iceland. The two cities are part of the Kapiti Coast District. Together with the nearby towns Raumati Beach Raumati South and they belong since about 1989, the fastest-growing urban areas in New Zealand. Previously Paraparaumu had their own football team, Paraparaumu United. This closed in 2003 with the Kapiti Hearts' to Kapiti Coast United together, which discharge their games in Weka Park in Raumati.

Transportation

Paraparaumu is located on the North Iceland Main Trunk Railway. It is the terminus of the Metro operated by Tranz under the name Metlink electrified transport system Wellingtons. This electrified section between the Wellington railway station and the train station is called Paraparaumu Paraparaumu Line. There are plans to expand electrification and transport network extending to Lindale and Waikanae. The trunk is used by trains of the NZR EM class. On the stretch to Paraparaumu Tranz Scenic operates two trains with diesel locomotives: the Capital Connection between Palmerston North and Wellington, and the Overlander between Auckland and Wellington. Both trains stop at Paraparaumu.

The city also has an airport. Currently, there are only small machinery, which, inter alia, Napier fly. In 2008 it was decided by the City Council that an investor can expand this airport.
