Patrick Aufiero

Patrick Aufiero ( born July 1, 1980 in Winchester, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who was active for the Augsburger Panther in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga in the 2005/06 season.

Career

Aufiero began his career in 1998 at Boston University, where he played for the local ice hockey team in the College Football Hockey East. During the NHL Entry Draft in 1999, the leaders of the New York Rangers secured the transfer of rights to the defender when they selected him in the third round at a total of 30 positions. The right-handed shooter finished his studies in 2002 and then moved to the American Hockey League for the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' farm team. There he received a two- year contract.

Until 2004, he played 37 AHL games, scoring seven points scorer. Furthermore, it was 20 times used in the ECHL with the Charlotte Checkers. For the season 2004 /05 he joined the Providence Bruins, where he was active until 2005. Then took him in the summer of 2005, the Augsburger Panther of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga under contract. In his first season with the Panthers, he withdrew in a league game against the Frankfurt Lions a serious knee injury that forced him to end his career in 2006. Aufiero only wore the jersey 23 times the Augsburger Panther.
