Paul Cazan

Paul cazan ( born September 30, 1951 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player. The defender played 464 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A.

Career

The career of cazan began in 1970 with TM Bucharest in Divizia C. A year later signed him the Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest, where, however, he did not play in the first round 1971/72. During the winter break, he joined the second division Chimia Râmnicu Vâlcea.

In the summer of 1972 cazan returned to the capital and moved to Sportul Studenţesc in the Divizia A. In the 1972/73 season he became a regular player. The "students" he remained for 16 years faithful. After two seasons in a relegation battle he got his team into the top group of Divizia A and always fought for a place in the UEFA Cup. In the 1976/77 season he was off in the first round Olympiakos Piraeus there, was defeated in the second round but the FC Schalke 04 With the advent of the cup final in 1979, he managed the largest ever success in the home, where his team was defeated Steaua Bucharest 0-3. This was only surpassed by the runner-up in 1986, when he was only the former European champions Steaua was beaten with his team. In the subsequent UEFA Cup competition Sportul again succeeded in gaining the second round, there was this time against KAA Gent terminus.

In the season 1987/88 cazan ended after 464 league games for Sportul after he had been promoted as the successor to Mircea Rădulescu head coach. He took over the team on the bottom of the table and led them to relegation. In the season 1994/95 he filled in for two games on the final day when he and his relegation match against Corvinul Hunedoara supervised the team of Sportul, where he secured the relegation.

In 2007 he was appointed Managing Director of UTA Arad. Following the resignation of Marcel Coraş as sports director in November 2007 cazan took his duties. On 1 June 2008 he resigned from this office for personal reasons.
