Pavlodar
Pavlodar ( Kazakh and Russian Павлодар ;) is a city in northern Kazakhstan.
Geographical Location
Pavlodar is located on the Irtysh River ( Kazakh Ертіс / Ertis ) near the Irtysh - Karaganda Canal and is the capital of Pavlodar region.
In the city there are oil, aluminum, electrolytic, metal, machinery and tractors - works.
Population
The city has included the surrounding municipalities belonging to the metropolitan area, approximately 495 554 inhabitants (2009 ).

History
In today's urban area of the outpost of a Cossack garrison named Korjakowski ( Коряковский ) was founded in 1720. She served the protection of Russian trade and expedition traveler before the local Dzungars. On April 4, 1861 was converted to enactment of the Russian Tsar Alexander II in a fortress city and renamed in honor of his recent, previously born in the year son Pawel in Pavlodar; is available in Russian for gift. In 1869 the urban district center of that Semipalatinskaja Oblast.
In November 1917, formed the Workers' and Soldiers of the Red Guards, and on October 1, 1918, the city was Soviet. On January 15, 1938, the Pavlodar Oblysy (then Pawlodarskaja Oblast ) founded as a center of Pavlodar.

Today Pavlodar is an industrial center specializing in the fields of construction and metal industries (aluminum), petrochemical, machinery and power generation.

By Pavlodar runs the long east-west route A17, a major road in Kazakhstan. The A18 begins in Pavlodar.
