Paweł Fajdek (* June 4, 1989 in Świebodzice ) is a Polish hammer thrower and current world champion in his discipline.

Career

First international successes achieved Fajdek with the fourth place finish at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz in 2008 and eighth place in the U23 European Athletics Championships 2009 in Kaunas. In 2011 he won both the U23 European Championships in Ostrava and in the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen. In the same year he reached the 11th place at the World Athletics Championships in Daagu. , A temporary setback he experienced in the 2012 Olympics in London, where he had to retire without a valid attempt in the qualification.

2013 defended Fajdek at the Summer Universiade in Kazan defend his title successfully. Shortly thereafter, he celebrated at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow until then its greatest success when he surprisingly won the gold medal ahead of the favorites Krisztián Pars of Hungary with a personal best of 81.97 m.
