Paz Lenchantin

Paz Lenchantin ( born December 12, 1973 in Mar del Plata, Argentina) is an American musician with Armenian and French roots. When she was four years old, she moved with her family to Los Angeles, California.

Lenchantin is fluent in Spanish and English. At age five, she began to play the piano. At eight, she took violin lessons, and with twelve she brought herself to play the guitar. Her sister, Ana is also a musician and often works with her. Furthermore, they often collaborates with her younger brother Luciano.

Career as a musician

Lenchantin -founded with Billy Howerdel, Josh Freese, Troy Van Leeuwen, and Maynard James Keenan, the band A Perfect Circle. She played with them the Mer de Noms albums and Thirteenth Step. Lenchantin left the group again later to play with Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, Matt Sweeney and David Pajo in the band Zwan. In 2002, Lenchantin together with Melissa Auf der Maur ( Smashing Pumpkins and Hole), Samantha Maloney and Radio Sloan (The Need), a new band called The Chelsea. This female supergroup played only one show, before the musicians went their own ways. Lenchantin returned to A Perfect Circle to their cover album Emotive ( published on 2 November 2004, # 2 on the Billboard 200) to play the violin and piano. You still contributed a cover version of The Hollow to aMOTION, a CD / DVD release of A Perfect Circle. In 2005 Lenchantin works with Entrance together on their album Prayer of Death, both as co-producer as well as a bass player and violinist. Already on the previous Entrance album Wandering Stranger (2004), it was represented. She is now a permanent member of the band.

Other activities

Lenchantin played violin on one song on the album Songs for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age. She played with David Pajo in the band Papa M and controlled the string parts on the album Tanglewood Numbers by Silver Jews. She was on tour with RTX / Jennifer Herrema of Royal Trux. In 2002, she played on the album The Lonely Position of Neutral by Trust Company, 2005, she played violin on the song Dividing Lines Kaura. She worked and also toured with Jarboe of the band Swans. In 2004, she made ​​an appearance as a bassist in the music video for Passive, a song by A Perfect Circle. Lenchantin played bass on their self-titled debut album Bright Black Morning Light, released on Matador Records. She worked with director Michael Mann in the film Miami Vice and played violin in various scenes. She played violin on Melissa Auf der Maur's first solo album Auf der Maur. 2008 Paz wrote the song Denial Waits with Ashes Divide and played violin on Jenny Lewis' second studio album, Acid Tongue, 2009, she played bass on their self-titled album by Into The Presence.

In addition to her career as a guest musician of many well-known bands Lenchantin found the time to produce two solo albums, which she sells on her mySpace page.
