Pers-Jussy

Pers- Jussy is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Pers- Jussy located at about 580 m above sea level. M., northwest of La Roche- sur -Foron, about 14 kilometers southeast of the city of Geneva (air line). The double municipality spreads increased slightly on the western edge of the broad Arvetals, at the foot of the ridge of the Cret Falcon.

History

The territory of Pers- Jussy been inhabited since the Neolithic period and during the Roman period. In Châtelard wall foundations of a Roman building were found. Pers is mentioned in the Middle Ages under the name of Paer and goes back to the Roman personal name Paternus while Jussy has its origin in the name Justus. The two villages pers and Jussy merged in 1815 to today's church.

The village church in Pers dates in its present form from the 19th century. Of the secular buildings, the ruins of the Tour du Châtelet and the Château de Cevins are worth mentioning.
