Peru women's national volleyball team

The Peruvian volleyball team of women is a selection of the best Peruvian players, the Federación Peruana de Voleibol represented in international tournaments and international matches.

History

World cup

1960 in Brazil Peru was the first time while at a volleyball World Championships and finished seventh. 1967 occupied the Peruvians the last place with only four participants and 1970, handed it to only 15th place. After the ranks eight and ten in 1982 they celebrated in their own country the greatest success when they first defeated in the final against China. In addition, playing at this World Championships with the Peruvian junior, who finished in last place. Four years later, Peru was also successful as a third party. Then it went down to 13 on sixth rank in 1994. At the tournament in 1998 it ran a little better than ninth, 2002 lacked Peru. At the 2006 World Cup, the Peruvians did not come on the 20th square.

Olympic games

Peru missed in Mexico in 1968 as a fourth barely a medal. After finishing seventh (1976) and six ( 1980), the Peruvian women repeated this success they were able to increase four years later. At the games in 1988 they reached the final against the Soviet Union and won the silver medal. 1996 and 2000, however, they came no more on the eleventh square.

South American Championship

After two third place finishes in 1951 and 1956 Peru reached 1958 for the first time the final against Brazil. There, the Peruvians documents as well as 1961 ( own country ) and 1962. Two years later they won their first continental title against Paraguay, which they defended against hosts Brazil in 1967. 1969 succeeded the Brazilians revenge, but then triumphed Peru five times in a row. After the lost finals in 1981 in Brazil from 1983 to 1989 they were four times more successful. From 1991 to 1995 respectively, the host won the eternal duel. 1997 had to defer front of their own to rival Peru. After the third place, the Peruvians were missing in 2001 for the first time at the championships. In 2003, she returned to third place; 2005 and 2007 there were two final defeats against Brazil.

World Cup

Right at the first participation in the World Cup managed to Peru in 1973 as fourth best result. Then they were washed four times in fifth before them was only tenth place in 1995 and 1999. The 2007 tournament, they finished in eleventh place.

World Grand Prix

Peru has appeared so far only in 1994 in the World Grand Prix and finished eleventh.
