Pierre Puvis de Chavannes

Pierre Cécile Puvis de Chavannes ( born December 14, 1824 in Lyon / Rhône, † October 24th 1898 in Paris) was a French painter. Life

Pierre Puvis de Chavanne was born into a family belonging to the upper middle class and enjoyed a solid classical training before - attracted by the painting - a first trip to Italy and took in Paris a year visited the studio of Henry Scheffer. His true calling, he discovered only on the occasion of his second, accompanied by Louis de Bauderon Vermeron (1809-1870) undertaken Italy trip.
