Podbořanský Rohozec

Podbořanský Rohozec to 1949 Německý Rohozec ( German German Rust, formerly Teutsch Rust) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 15 kilometers west of Podbořany on the edge of Doupov Mountains and belongs to Okres Louny.

Geography

The place is located in the eastern foothills of the mountains in the headwaters of Doupov Rohozecký creek. West joins the military training area Hradiště. Through the village leads the state road 221 Podbořany after Chyše.

Neighboring towns are Chmelišťná in the north, Nepomyšl in the east, in the southeast Detan, Nová Ves in the south, Ořkov in the south and the military settlement Bukovina in the West.

History

The first mention of Rohozec dates from the year 1424. At that time, the place belonged to the rule Křečov and at the beginning of the 17th century, the village was part of the lordship Willomitz. 1641 devastated the Swedes the village. The owner of Aryn Elizabeth broke Rohozec 1654 from the Willomitzer rule out and formed the basic rule Rohozec to which belonged the village Detan. To recolonization she called German settlers in the area.

Under Caroline Countess of Beautiful Churches, the Church of St. Notburgastraße was renewed in 1746. The population was the largest German-speaking part and there was a Jewish community. During the 18th century Rohozec was slammed to the rule Weitentrebetitsch and there sat the German place name or Rust Německý Rohozec by. 1816 followed by the construction of a synagogue. 1880 had German Rust 604 inhabitants.

After World War II, most of the Germans, which include 98 % of the inhabitants were expelled. 1949, the town was renamed in Podbořanský Rohozec. East of the village was 1950, the military training area Hradiště and the distant mountain villages were evacuated. In 1957 the demolition of the synagogue. Since 1961, the community is part of the Okres Louny. Between 1980 and 1990 it was amalgamated with Nepomyšl.

As part of the downsizing of the military training areas Bukovina 2015 will be added as the district to Podbořanský Rohozec.
