Portland is a city in Ashley County in the U.S. state of Arkansas.
Portland is located in southwest Arkansas near the border of Louisiana and is affected by the U.S. Highway 165, from the Arkansas State Route 902 and the Arkansas State Route 278.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.8 km ², consisting entirely of the country.
Demography
At the time of the census of 2000, there were 552 people Portland. The population density was 197.3 people per km ². There were 247 housing units at an average 88.3 per km ². The population consisted of 55.62 % White, 42.93 % African American, 0.18 % Native American, 0.91% Asian, 0.36 % Pacific Islander, 0.91 % reported from other races and 0.36 % from two or more races. 2.72 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
