Prénovel

Prénovel is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Prénovel is located on 905 m above sea level. M., about 14 km north of the town of Saint- Claude ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, a slight increase on the western flank of the Combe du Nanchey, southwest of the plateaus of Grandvaux, between the heights of the forest Forêt de Prénovel in the west and the Bois de la Joux Derriere in the east.

History

The area of Prénovel was colonized in the 14th century by families who had emigrated from the Swiss canton of Vaud. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.
