Prénovel is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Prénovel is located on 905 m above sea level. M., about 14 km north of the town of Saint- Claude ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, a slight increase on the western flank of the Combe du Nanchey, southwest of the plateaus of Grandvaux, between the heights of the forest Forêt de Prénovel in the west and the Bois de la Joux Derriere in the east.

The area of 8.20 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The landscape is characterized by parallel ridges and terrain longitudinal troughs, which are oriented towards south-southwest - north- northeast, according to the strike of the Jura Mountains in the area. The central part of the municipal area is from the Combe du Nanchey ( average altitude of 900 m. M. ) ingested, forming a syncline in geological terms. This 1 km wide, marshy Talniederung is drained by the Bief de Nanchey, which flows to the north- northeast, the Bois de la Joux Derriere crosses with a Klus and seeps outside the municipal area at the edge of the high plateau of Grandvaux.

Flanked the Combe du Nanchey in the east of the forest height of the Bois de la Joux Derriere (up to 978 m above sea level. M. ). To the west, the municipality's area covers the extensive grove of Forêt de Prénovel, which is characterized by terrain ribs and above ground septic wells. With 1045 m above sea level. M. is quite reached the highest elevation of Prénovel the north edge of the Bois des Mouillères. The area of Prénovel is part of the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut- Jura.

History

The area of Prénovel was colonized in the 14th century by families who had emigrated from the Swiss canton of Vaud. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church of Prénovel was built in the 19th century. From the 16th century, the cemetery chapel dates. Among the natural attractions include the Moor of Prénovel, which is accessible by a nature trail.

Population

With 302 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Prénovel one of the small towns in the Jura. Economy and infrastructure

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Les Crozets to Grande -Rivière. Further road links exist with Châtel- de -Joux, Saint- Maurice- Crillat and Chaux -des- Prés.
