Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler is a New York fashion label.

History

Proenza Schouler was founded in 2002 by Lazaro Hernandez (born 1978 ) and Jack McCollough (born 1978 ) in New York. Both jointly design the collections of the label. The name Proenza Schouler goes back to the birth name of their mothers. Hernandez and McCollough met in 1999 at the Parsons School of Design. During their training period, Hernandez interned at Michael Kors, while McCollough was an intern at Marc Jacobs. The college graduation collection of Hernandez and McCollough was - a rarity in the fashion industry - produced and added to the range of the New York department store Barneys. Barneys was also interested in a spring collection and even more stores like Linda Dresner and Jeffrey showed interest in another collection.

The editor in chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour, discovered both designers and patronized them. Through them, both received in 2004 with the Vogue Fashion Fund a scholarship with which they could carry out their first joint collection. As a result, both designers were darlings of the press, which declared it to be genius. They are regularly represented at the New York Fashion Week. In 2007, the Valentino Fashion Group climbed at Proenza Schouler and currently holds 45 percent of the label.

Style

Clothing from Proenza Schouler is considered a " casual luxury ". The shapes are minimalist and the clothing is often in dark, neutral colors - held - brown, gray, army green, bronze. While Proenza Schouler originally became known for the interpretation of bustiers and corsets, Hernandez and McCollough designed after a short time, coats, pencil skirts and dresses that accentuate the slim silhouette.

Her designs are sold, among others, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. In 2008, Proenza Schouler collaborated with Giuseppi Zanotti and brought an exclusive line of shoes on the market.

From Proenza Schouler there is now a women's collection, bags, cosmetics, accessories like glasses and sunglasses, and shoes. Among the celebrities who wear Proenza Schouler, include Demi Moore, Chloe Sevigny, and the friend of the designer duo actress Kate Bosworth.
