Provence wine

Bellet is a small wine region in the east of the vineyard region of Provence, France. The vineyards are located in the department of Alpes- Maritimes above Nice, however, within the municipal boundaries in the districts les Séoules, le Pilon, le Grand- Bois, Golfan, les Cappan, Saint- Roman-de -Bellet, la Tour, Candau, Saquier Saint- Sauveur, Gros- pin, Serre -Long, Crémat, Mont- Bellet ( Cantagalet ), Li Puncia and Lingestiera. The 39.9 hectare area has since November 11, 1941 the status of an Appellation d' Origine ( AOC short ). Bellet has some of France's oldest vineyards, because the vineyards were already created at the time of the Phocians. Approximately 800 to 1,100 hectoliters of wine are produced every year, which consists of 30% white wine, rosé and 30 % to 40% of red wine. Due to the small amount of the wines outside of Nice are hard to find and have a high price ( at least 12 to 15 € / bottle).

  • Red Wine: The grape varieties used are mainly the Braquet Noir, Folle Noir (also called Fuella ) and Cinsault. In addition (within 40%) may be used to a limited extent Grenache Noir, as well as all white grape varieties that are used in local white wine. The minimum alcohol content is 10.5 percent.
  • Rosé: The grape varieties used are mainly the Braquet Noir, Folle Noir (also called Fuella ) and Cinsault. In addition (within 40%) may be used to a limited extent Grenache, Roussanne, Rolle, Spagnol (also called Mayorquín ), Clairette Blanche, Pignerol Blanc and Bourboulenc. The minimum alcohol content is 10.5 percent.
  • White Wine: The grape varieties used are mainly the Roussanne, role ( as is the Vermentino called here ), Spagnol (also called Mayorquín ). In addition (within 40%) may be used to a limited extent Clairette, Bourboulenc, Chardonnay, Muscat blanc and Pignerol. The minimum alcohol content is 11 percent.
