Purba Medinipur district
Purba Medinipur ( Bengali: পূর্ব মেদিনীপুর, Purba Medinipur, English: East Midnapore ) is a district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It was created on 1 January 2002 by the division of the former district Medinipur into a western and an eastern part. It borders 24 Pargana in the state of Odisha and West Bengal districts Pashchim Medinipur, Howrah and Dakshin. Seat of the district administration is Tamluk.
Purba Medinipur consists of four sub - divisions, each named after their respective largest places Tamluk, container, Egra and Haldia.
