Quezon City

Quezon City (Filipino: Lungsod Quezon ) is the most populous city in the Philippines. It belongs to the region of Metro Manila and is located on the main island of Luzon in the immediate vicinity of the capital, Manila.

Among the most important branches of industry include the textile industry. Of economic importance also is tourism, and it is trying increasingly to locate companies in the computer industry. Quezon City is home to the University of the Philippines and the Ateneo de Manila University.

Furthermore, here various government agencies and ministries, the Philippine Central Bank (Filipino: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ) and are the House of Representatives of the Philippines ( Kapulungan ng mga ng Pilipinas Kinatawan ).

Quezon City was from 1937 to 1976 the capital of the Philippines. On 24 June 1976, the metropolitan region of Metro Manila was established by decree of then President Ferdinand Marcos, with Quezon City was virtually incorporated and replaced as the capital. The new capital was Manila.

Your name bears the city after the first President of the Philippines, Manuel Quezon, after whom the province is named Quezon. He is dedicated to his monument ( Quezon Memorial Circle ) in the city a large park.

Quezon City is the richest city in the Philippines and the only one that is debt-free (as of January 2007).

Quezon City is the seat of the Diocese of Cubao. In Quezon is the Santo Domingo Church and in this there is a shrine of La Naval de Manila, this was declared in 2012 a national treasure of the Philippines.
