Quincy is a city and also the county seat of Gadsden County in the U.S. state of Florida with 7,972 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Quincy is located around 30 km north- west of Tallahassee in northern Florida.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 7,972 inhabitants distributed to 3,169 households. The population density was 404.7 inh. / Km ². 23.4 % of the population were white, 64.4 % African American, 0.6 % Native American and 0.7 % Asian Americans. 9.6% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.4% in different ethnic groups. 13.9 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 28.2 % of all households lived in 38.7 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 68.0 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.67 persons and the average family size was 3.25 persons.

29.4 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.0% were 20-39 years old, 24.6% were 40-59 years old and 12.9 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 34 years. 49.2 % of the population were male and 50.8 % female.

The average annual income was $ 30,581, while 28.4 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 93.25 % of the population spoke Spanish and 6.75 %.

Traffic

Quincy is on U.S. Highway 90 (SR 10) and the Florida State Roads 12 and 267 crosses. The nearest airport is Tallahassee Regional Airport ( around 30 km south-east ).

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 716 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the high range. There was a murder, eight rapes, 18 robberies, 83 injuries, 106 burglaries, 266 robberies, car thefts and eight three arson.
