Raba Wyżna

Raba Wyżna is a village in the rural community Raba Wyżna and seat of the municipal administration. The place is located about 55 kilometers south of Kraków, Lesser Poland voivodeship in Poland and counts 4116 inhabitants. Through the village flows the Raba. The former Curia Bishop and current Archbishop of Krakow Stanislaw Dziwisz was born in Raba Wyżna.

History

One of the first mentions of the village's control registers (Polish rejestry poborowe ) of the Kingdom of Poland to 1581.

In the years 1846-1847 the village as a result of crop failures suffered from a famine. Malnutrition and related diseases meant that a third of the population died. The lack of supply of food and inadequate hygiene infrastructure led in the 19th century repeatedly outbreaks of dysentery, typhoid and cholera. In September 1899, the railway line between Chabówka and Zakopane was opened. Glowinski 1902, the Palace was built in the Art Nouveau style in Raba Wyżna. The building is now in a need of renovation. 1906, the still active cooperative bank Raba Wyżna was founded. 40 houses were burnt down as a result of military conflict on September 2, 1939. More than 10 civilians lost their lives. Many residents left the village then. 1941 confiscated the German military administration, the church bells. From 1943, the palace was used by the occupying forces. 1945 nationalized the new communist rulers, the palace and all clingy goods. 1946 First steps were taken to rebuild the ruined village. In 1957 the building of the local government was established. 1961 opened the local department store (Polish wiejski dom towarowy ) and 1965 the new school building was erected. 1973 Raba Raba Wyżna seat of the rural community Wyżna. The following villages were incorporated into the rural community: Raba Wyżna, Bielanka, Sieniawa, Podsarnie, Bukovina Osiedle, Harkabuz, Spytkowice, Skawa i Rokiciny Podhalańskie. 1985 Glowinski Palace is a historical monument. 2000 opened a rehabilitation and nursing center. Opened in 2004, Lech Wałęsa, the new road connecting Raba Wyżna after Harkabuz. Since 2004, the center is being renovated and visually enhanced. The municipal administration has been renovated and ties in the formal language of the Galician tradition of the place. Also since 2004, enabling support from the European Union, the implementation of various infrastructure projects such as transport infrastructure, sidewalks, sewers.

Attractions

The Church of St. Stanislaus in Raba Wyżna was built in 1665 and expanded between 1841-43. Noteworthy are the ceiling paintings by Piotr Niziński ( student of Jan Matejko ) from the year 1901.

Culture and Sport

In the village folk poet Wanda Czubernatowa and the sculptor David Wędziarz operates. The village has a football field, as well as several sports facilities in the town center. The school has a gymnasium. The entire sports infrastructure has been rebuilt in recent years or extensively renovated. The football club LKS " hurricane " Raba Wyżna was founded in 1946 and is the largest sports club in Raba Wyżna. The local authority published in the journal village Wieśći Rabiańskie.

Policy

The municipalities in the southern Lesser Poland are traditionally considered conservative strongholds. Thus, the Catholic nationalist Law and Justice party received (Polish: Prawo i Sprawiedliwość ) in the parliamentary elections in Poland in 2011 vote share of 64.1 % in the municipal area at a total score of 29.9% of the national average.
