Racing de Santander

The Real Racing Club de Santander, SAD, known as Racing Santander, is a Spanish football club (sport - stock company ), based in Santander, Cantabria. It was founded on 14 June 1913 and received in 1914 the attribute Real ( Royal dt ).

History

Racing was in the 1928/29 season of the founding members of La Liga, finished second in the season the last place, but did not get off. In 1931 the club runners behind Athletic Bilbao, which until today 's biggest success in club history.

From 1941 to 1973, the club changed its name under the name Real Sociedad Deportiva Santander, as a franquistisches decree had ordered to remove all non- Spanish-speaking parts of the name.

In the 2007 /08 season Racing completed his 40th season in the Primera División. At the end of the season 2011/12 Racing rose as Table in the Segunda División. In the season 2012/13 the crash followed in the Segunda División B. third-rate

Stadium

The stadium is on the edge of the eponymous district of El Sardinero, which is also known for its wide sandy beaches. The current stadium was inaugurated on 20 August 1988, replaced an older stadium of the same name, which had immediately located nearby. El Sardinero is now a pure -seater stadium and offers 22,500 spectators. It also houses the administration of the association.
