Ramp (Band)

Ramp is a Portuguese groove and thrash metal band from Seixal, which was founded in 1989. The band name is derived from the initials of the first names of the founding members Ricardo, Antonio, Miguel and Paulo.

History

The band was formed in 1989 by guitarist Ricardo Mendonça and singer Rui Duarte. In the same year, the first appearance followed as the opening act for Mortifera and The Coven. Mortifera bassist João Miguel Saps should replace later. After that, the band recorded a demo which they sent to various labels to reach an agreement. In 1992, the EP was followed Thoughts on PolyGram. Also music videos were created for the song Try Again, Last Child and Thoughts. After the EP three more songs were added, Thoughts was released in CD format as an album on PolyGram. In the following years, various appearances joined, the group also played as the opening act for Sepultura.

In 1995 appeared over União Lisboa IV 's second album Intersection. The third album Evolution, Devolution, Revolution Square in Nottingham in the studio with producer Simon Efemey. The album was released in late 1998. Besides music videos were made for the songs Old Times and For a While. Towards the end of the following year appeared in the live double album Ramp ... Live. The album contained live recordings of their anniversary show for their tenth anniversary. Footage of it was later used for the music video how. In 2003, the next studio album was released on Nude Records Paranoid. In 2005, the band released an EP that da Guarda contained a cover version of Duran Duran's Planet Earth and Anjinho by António Variações. In addition, the new song You Make Me was included. That same year, Paradise Lost, Slayer, Manowar, Angra, Ill Niño, Kittie, Drowning Pool, The Exploited, Fudge, the band played together with groups such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, Tool, Sepultura, Alice Cooper, Fear Factory, Motorhead, tunnel, Benediction, Dismember, Ratos de Porão, Rollins Band, Monster Magnet and sadist. In 2009, appeared on IPlay Records album Visions.

Style

The band played at the beginning of their careers pure thrash metal. In later publications they approached ever more closely to the Groove Metal.
