Rangers village is a municipality with 1751 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Spittal an der Drau in Carinthia.

Geographical location

Rangers village is situated in between the Moelltal belonging to the Goldberg group Zellinkopf ( 2,597 m) and the southern Kreuzeckgruppe with the leading- here valleys ( trenches ) of Lamnitzbaches and Zleinitzbaches. Settled are mainly the flood level terraces in the mouth region of the major tributaries (localities Lamnitz and Lainach ) and Verebnungen in the northern slope of the Mölltal valley ( in ascending Altitude: Rangers village, Tresdorf, Lobersberg ).

History

Slavic tribes settled on the western slope of the Goldberg group early in the 7th century. The "Villa Routkerasdorf " was first mentioned in a barter agreement bishop of Freising from the years 1006-1039. The place name is derived from the situated above the village Rank castle. This was in 1292 destroyed by the Counts of Gorizia, together with the Fixed stall and then not rebuilt.

In the late Middle Ages Rangers village was a known gold, silver and Kupferbergbauort. The present municipality was managed almost six centuries, from the reign of each stall. 1850, the municipality Rangers village was established, which has since served only 1964 smaller field corrections to the stable.

Population

According to the 2001 census, the municipality Rangers village 1,805 inhabitants, of whom 97% possess the Austrian and 1% of the German citizenship.

For the Roman Catholic Church to 95.9 % of the community population profess the Protestant Church 1.4%. As a non-denominational to 1.3%, respectively.

Culture and sights

  • The Sanctuary Marterle is located in 1861 meters above sea level on the southern slope of the Sadniggruppe chapel. Your name derives from a cross that has stood in their place before their construction. The blazon of the coat of arms of Rangers village is: In blue on silver Dreienberg the silver church of Marterle, beseitet top right of a golden flower of the Elder- leaved orchid.
