Ranzevelle

Ranzevelle is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Ranzevelle situated at an altitude of 237 m above sea level, 11 km northeast of Jussey and about 34 km north- northwest of the city of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the northwestern part of the department, on a terrace, which is circled by the Saône River, east of the hill of Bois Saint -Julien.

The area of ​​2.38 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the upper Saônetals. The northern, eastern and southern border runs along the Saône, which here flows in a large arc around the country terrace of Ranzevelle. Your Alluvialniederung has a width up to 1.5 km and is on average 220 ​​m. The river is channeled and developed for Waterway, northeast of the village of Coney lead and with it the Canal de l' Est in the Saône Valley. The terrain is predominantly used for agricultural purposes. The terrace of Ranzevelle, on the 257 meters, the highest elevation of the site is achieved, consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited on the merits during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ).

Neighboring communities of Ranzevelle Corre are in the north, the south and Ormoy Aisey -et- Richecourt in the southwest.

History

In the Middle Ages Ranzevelle belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Jonvelle. Thiébaud of Jonvelle left the monastery Clairefontaine in 1257, a quarter of the tithe of Ranzevelle. 1474 the place was sacked by troops under Trémoille. Together with the Franche -Comté Ranzevelle came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France.

Attractions

The Castle of Ranzevelle was built in the 18th century and includes a chapel. Some houses from the 16th and 17th centuries in the traditional style of the Haute -Saône are obtained. The Calvaire, which is dated to the year 1694.

Population

With 23 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) is Ranzevelle the smallest village in the Haute- Saône. Throughout the 20th century, the population decreased significantly (1901 were still 53 people counted ).

Ranzevelle is still a predominantly by agriculture ( farming, viticulture and animal husbandry ) embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in town.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes near a secondary road that leads from Jussey by Corre.
