Raymundo Joseph Peña

Raymundo Joseph Peña ( born February 19, 1934 in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA) is a retired bishop of Brownsville.

Life

The Bishop of Corpus Christi, Mariano Simon Garriga, ordained him a priest on 25 May 1957.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 16 October 1976 for the Titular Bishop of Trisipa and auxiliary bishop in San Antonio. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of San Antonio, Francis James Furey, on 13 December of the same year; Co-consecrators were Patrick Fernández Flores, Auxiliary Bishop of San Antonio, and Thomas Joseph Drury, Bishop of Corpus Christi.

On 29 April 1980 he was appointed Bishop of El Paso and introduced into the office on 18 June of the same year. On May 23, 1994, he was appointed bishop of Brownsville and introduced into the office on 6 August of next year.
