Recologne -lès- Rioz is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Recologne -lès- Rioz situated at an altitude of 338 m above sea level, 8 km northwest of Rioz and about 26 km north of the city of Besançon (air line). The village extends to the south of the department, on a plateau in the hill country that extends between the Saônebecken and the valley of the Ognon.

The area of ​​10.18 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the south and Ognon Saône in the northwest. The central part of the territory is occupied the plateau of Recologne, which is on average 350 m. It is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land and runs against North East in the plateau of Grandmont (362 m). To the west the plateau coincides with a ground level from the Saônebecken. The border runs here in the Bois de Chanenot, partly at the top of the plateau, partly in the slope. With 415 m is quite reached the highest elevation of Recologne -lès- Rioz in the southwest. In the east the plateau is flanked by the valley of Eguilley, which opens north to the Valley of the Romaine. In geological terms, the plateau consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the middle and upper Jurassic period, which are disturbed by several in the southwest-northeast -oriented faults. History

In the Middle Ages Recologne belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had held the Lords of Fondremand the main action. Some also belonged to the dominion Maizières. In the 16th century belonging to Fondremand residents were awarded freedom rights. Together with the Franche -Comté Recologne came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. To a field change occurred in 1964 when the previously independent Eguilley was incorporated into Recologne -lès- Rioz. Today Recologne -lès- Rioz is a member of the 28 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays Riolais.

Attractions

The church of Saint -Laurent was extensively rebuilt in 1752, with a Gothic chapel (15th century) the previous building was included. In-room amenities include a stucco altar of the Brothers Marca (18th century), a statue of St. Lawrence (16th century) and frescoes from the 16th century. The round Lavoir of Recologne that once served as well, wash and livestock watering, was built in 1828.

Population

With 226 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Recologne -lès- Rioz is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had always oscillated in the first half of the 20th century in the area between 90 and 120 people, a continuous population growth has been recorded since the mid- 1980s.

Economy and infrastructure

Recologne -lès- Rioz was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Fretigney -et- Velloreille after Fondremand. Further road links exist with Maizières and Villers -Bouton.
